When life pulls us in a hundred directions, it’s easy to get swept up in the noise, hurry, and pressure to do more. But in this Mini Moment, we slow down, breathe, and let Scripture remind us of what matters most.
Join me as we pause with Matthew 6:25–33, reflect on the distractions that pull our eyes away from God’s kingdom, and pray together for a heart aligned with His purposes.
Whether you’re in the middle of your day or winding down, this brief episode is a chance to exhale and remember that our Heavenly Father knows our needs and invites us to seek Him first.

Hi, friend.
Welcome to the Mini Moment—a short interlude between episodes of the Unwrapping Rest podcast.
When life pulls us in a hundred directions, it’s easy to get swept up in the noise, the hurry, and the pressure to do more.
But in this moment, we’re choosing to slow down, to look up, and to recenter our lives.
My prayer is that this will be a gentle whisper reminding you that Jesus is near, His rest is real, and you are deeply loved.
So I invite you to exhale. Let the noise fade as we focus on a passage from Matthew 6.
Jesus has just said that it’s impossible to serve both God and money.
When we get to verse 25, we read:
“Therefore I tell you, don’t worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food and the body more than clothing?
Consider the birds of the sky. They don’t sow or reap or gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you worth more than they?”
Then verse 31 adds:
“Your heavenly Father knows that you need these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you.”
These verses came to mind as I’ve been preparing for a mission trip my husband and I will be taking soon.
I’ve researched daypacks and protein bars.
I’ve ordered and returned more than one outfit.
But as thoughts buzzed through my head and my browser window, I was reminded of these words from Matthew 6.
It would be so easy to arrive at our destination with all the right gear and yet miss the most important work—the prayerful preparation before we go.
Right then, I paused to confess my distraction and began to pray for our team and the people we will encounter.
I invited God again to guide me through the planning and to go before us.
Is there something in your life that is distracting you from seeking God’s kingdom first?
Are you, like me, tempted to hold on to control?
If so, pause and confess it.
Ask God to help you realign your priorities so they reflect His heart and His purposes.
Will you join me in a closing prayer?
Heavenly Father, thank You for loving us enough to draw us back from distraction.
Teach us to seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness, trusting that You will provide for our needs.
You are so good to us.
We love You and trust You completely.
Amen.
May we go forward resting, not striving.
